At the beginning of the 20th century, many saroughs were exported to the USA due to their high popularity. The patterns of these saroughs were knotted according to the tastes of the US buyers. Today, these antique "American" Saroughs are coveted collector's items, often finding their way to Europe as well. An exception to the rule is the Sarough Mir carpet with its unique design.
