Origin: Caucasus / Shirwan. This rug was hand-knotted in the Caucasus region using traditional techniques and is at least 90 years old. It is made of handspun wool on cotton and represents the robust, authentic, and artistic tradition of Caucasian rug weaving.
With a knot density of approximately 160,000 to 200,000 knots per square meter, this rug offers good detail definition, solid durability, and a pleasant texture. Its thickness of around 6 mm and weight of approximately 8 kg confirm the fine yet durable quality of this antique handmade piece.
The design of this rug features a powerful Shirwan composition with a large geometric central medallion, archaic tribal motifs, and a precisely structured border.
